Choosing a Solicitor
You will be better off with a solicitor who specialises in mesothelioma,
and who will bring the cases to court within a few months.
To find out if your solicitor is a specialist, you should ask:
| |
• |
What proportion of the solicitor's work involves mesothelioma claims? |
| |
• |
Has the solicitor taken such cases to court? |
| |
• |
If so, how many? |
| |
• |
Does the solicitor have any information about the employers who
gave you the disease, for example, have they sued this company previously?
If so, what happened? |
| |
• |
How long does it typically take the solicitor to get a mesothelioma
case to court? If it typically takes more than 1 year, the cases
are not being done quickly. |
Once your case is underway, ask:
| |
• |
Has a court action been started? |
| |
• |
When will a court action be started? |
| |
• |
Has your solicitor obtained a hearing date for your case? |
If you ask your solicitor about progress in your mesothelioma
case, you should be told the same day or the next day.

Prieska, Northern Cape, South Africa: blue asbestos was mined near the town and milled in the town. Many people developed mesothelioma as a result of environmental pollution, as well as working with asbestos.
