Choosing a Solicitor

You will be better off with a solicitor who specialises in mesothelioma, and who will bring the cases to court within a few months.

To find out if your solicitor is a specialist, you should ask:

What proportion of the solicitor's work involves mesothelioma claims?
Has the solicitor taken such cases to court?
  If so, how many?
Does the solicitor have any information about the employers who gave you the disease, for example, have they sued this company previously? If so, what happened?
How long does it typically take the solicitor to get a mesothelioma case to court? If it typically takes more than 1 year, the cases are not being done quickly.

Once your case is underway, ask:

Has a court action been started?
When will a court action be started?
Has your solicitor obtained a hearing date for your case?

If you ask your solicitor about progress in your mesothelioma case, you should be told the same day or the next day.

Prieska, Northern Cape, South Africa: blue asbestos was mined near the town and milled in the town. Many people developed mesothelioma as a result of environmental pollution, as well as working with asbestos.
