Benefits payable by the Government for mesothelioma

1. Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

As soon as you are told that you have an asbestos-related condition, or your doctor suspects that you have such a condition, you should claim the appropriate benefits from the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP).

You should apply for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit if you were exposed to asbestos at work.

2. Pneumoconiosis etc (Workers Compensation) Act 1979 and Diffuse Mesothelioma Scheme, October 2008.

You may get a one off payment from the Government. This has nothing to do with a civil action against employers.
